We have been paddling since 2002. I feel dragon boating is a sport that is much more diverse for people with disabilities. I also feel that being a part of a team is a great motivator. I had never been involved in team sports before I joined the dragon boat team. Now I couldn't imagine my life without dragon boating. Both sports offer different kinds of work outs and I can only speak from experience, that dragon boating is a great work out. I do know of a blind rower Ariel Gilbert. She is a great example of a blind rower. She has gone to the Olympics and done great. Members of Blind Ambition speak of Ariel as an example of how we should not let our blindness slow us down. Although we are a Recreational team, I do see a high spirit of competitive drive in each of us. Our mission is to promote the abilities of the blind/visually impaired in a competitive environment through paddle sports. I hope that one day our team will be able to race at the Worlds.

I know of another blind dragonboat team: Dragon Eyes from Ottawa.
A team that got really pissed off at me though...but that's a different story.
